It’s Almost Blueberry Time!
Our blueberries have been quietly waiting for their debut through the dormant winter season, the spring with it’s sporadically frosty nights, and now we are nearing the beginning of summer, and that means we are almost to our blueberry’s favorite time of year.
We’ve enjoyed our Saturday mornings at Depot Street Farmer’s Market, and we’re so looking forward to the days when we can bring flats of pints, loaded with the bluest berries that taste like bursts of summer. Each weekend we have returning customers ask, “When will the blueberries be here??”, so much so, that we even have a sign at our vendor booth answering that very question.
That got us thinking that our next blog post should have a few Q&A’s to keep our readers informed, and our customers updated so everyone is clued-in for the berry season!
Q & A
Question: Will you have Pick-Your-Own this summer?
Answer: God-willing, yes!
Question: When will Pick-Your-Own begin?
Answer: Likely the end of June. Our email subscribers will be the first to be notified and provided with the way to reserve their spot on the available picking days - so be sure to scroll down to the bottom and sign up for our email list.
Question: How many rows of blueberries do you have on the property?
Answer: We have over 1,000 individual blueberry plants spread across 18 rows. In addition, we also have 100 blackberry plants, and in the middle of our orchard we have 40+ fruit trees.
Question: What else will you be selling on your property, and what days will you be open?
Answer: We will open our “Blueberry Shed” on Thursdays (check Google Maps for directions and updated hours) hopefully by mid-June. Inside the shed will be raw honey, several beeswax products, assorted all-natural cleaning products, possibly a variety of items from other local farms and artisans, and potentially sourdough bread and kombucha.
Question: How often are you present at Depot Street Farmer’s Market?
Answer: Every weekend that the market is scheduled to be open unless inclement weather causes a cancellation for us or the market (which hasn’t happened yet!)
Question: If we are from out of town and wish to stop by to visit, what’s the best way to reach you?
Answer: Please send us a message as far in advance as you are able, and we will make every effort to visit with you!
